Located in Dalyan within the boundaries of Muğla’s Ortaca district, Kaunos Ancient City is one of Turkey’s most important ancient settlements, with a history of approximately 3,000 years. An important port city in antiquity, Kaunos offers visitors the opportunity to travel back in time with its theater, temples, rock tombs, and historical structures.

The History of Kaunos

Kaunos Rock Tombs

The magnificent rock tombs rising on the opposite slope of the Dalyan River are among the most striking symbols of Kaunos. Carved into the rocks, these tombs offer a unique view especially at sunset and are one of the most photographed spots in the region.
